An alternate model from a LEGO Mini Cooper 10242 set. 984 parts + extra steering wheel.
The pdf instructions are available in separate MOC.

Note: This model is the most fragile of all my MOCs. But thanks again to fgee, who has made the great improvement guide to make this MOC more sturdy. You can download this guide and try it out!

The pdf instructions are in a separate MOC.

Before trying to build please read the following carefully.

– This model is not recommended for persons under 14 years of age and those with little experience in building more complex models.

– The assembly is likely to take quite a bit of your time. It might be the reason for exasperation and nervous breakdowns, can cause unpleasant sensations in the fingers.

– The model is very fragile and is intended to be admired from its spot on a shelf, it is not suitable for active games.

Did you finished a pdf instruction? I don't have an apple device, but an Creator Mini on the way. Would love to build your MOC.

    Greetings

I finally built the Porsche. It is a gorgeous model and a great build, using numerous interesting building techniques and providing very clear instructiuons.

But, as many others reported, the back is very flimsy and does fall apart every time you look at. No fun! Thus I wanted it to be fixed.

Fixing the rear axle and the rear bodywork is easier as you may think, and we need only five extra parts which you can easily find in your brick box (see photo).

How could I share my result with the community, without compromising the instructions sold by buildme?

Finally I came out with my Sturdiness Kit. I think it's ok that way - if not, let me know.

Thank you for sharing your Porsche Cabrio with us!

Hi everyone who was asking me about pdf version!
Finally I've finished it, you can find a preview file here.

This Porsche is absolutely gorgeous, and I want to build it anyway, so I finally got me a Mini Cooper, which never made it to be "my" model as long as it was sold my Lego itself, but now it is.
Unfortunately we have no Apple device in our household, and it doesn't make sense to buy such a device just for the sake of building the Porsche. Can it really be that you just lock out the bigger part of the community? Can that really be???
I read your statement about building instructions and all. I understand that you designed your instructions to be used in an interactive way only. Then I highly recommend to provie a LXF file to be used with Lego Digital Designer. This would take you the smallest effort possible to include the PC users to your customers group. That would be very nice.
May I count on a solution for the PC users?

Thank your for your comment! I’m going to create a pdf this month, I will add the link here. But please keep in mind this Porsche is even more fragile than my other models.

A PDF instruction booklet would be great! Thanks in advance.

Nice model, but a pain in the ass to build as it is very fragile...
you have to handle it very delicate otherwise the whole rear end wil come of...
though i enjoyed it very much!

This is a very good looking model. However, due to part limitation, the build is flimsy as indicated by others especially the rear. I like the model, but I do not want to keep a fragile model as it is. Is there anyway you can provide a more robust model with some extra pieces?
    • 2 years, 6 months ago buildme Level 14 Designed this MOC
I’ve already made some improvements for this model based on james73’s suggestions. It is possible to go further and make it more robust with some extra parts but this requires to rebuild entirely all inner connections. This process is complex enough and it will turn the model into non-alternative.

Yes this MOC looks great and i wish to build it, but buy it?
  • 3 years, 2 months ago hankmoody Level 3
I'm really interested in this set, but I don't own any devices equipped with iOS, etc.

Is there any way to purchase a PDF version of the instructions from you?
    • 3 years, 2 months ago buildme Level 14 Designed this MOC
I described the situation in the comment above, it's still the same.
      • 3 years, 2 months ago hankmoody Level 3
Whoops! My apologies. Must've missed that somehow.

I'll see if I can pilfer an old Apple device from a friend or something. Thanks!

Could you please provide instructions for non-IOS platforms?

Hi everyone! Thank you all for comments and criticism. I succeeded in strengthening tail parts and now this model is more playable. Just update instruction from the App Store and check pages 19-23, 92 and 95.

I've been looking to get all four of the currently available model cars, but they don't seem to all fit together. The two VW's fit together on display, but the cooper and Ferrari are just kinda... loners. This Porsche is a great alt build because it'll be able to fit with the F-40 better, Can't wait to get my hands on all four cars now, and I better do it quick before the van and cooper retire!

I've completed this model yesterday. It looks VERY cool and detailed and I like it very much. It is rather hard to assemble and took me about 4! hours to complete it.
The main problem of the model that the back of it is very fragile and therefore it is absolutely unplayable. Anyway it will stay on my shelf.

Hello, I bought the full version today. Unfortunately no matter what I do and no matter from where I connect, it does not download. It only says "Downloading %0.0". What do I need to do?
    • 3 years, 7 months ago buildme Level 14 Designed this MOC
Hi, please, try the following steps: remove the app from your device, download it again from the App Store, restore purchases.

It is downloading now, thank you.

The rear axle certainly proved a challenge as noted by others. The broken car sat there mocking me (pun intended ;) for a few days before I decided to make it work. Once I had been through all the steps and could see the spare parts left over I made a couple of tweaks in an effort to strengthen the rear axle.

    1. after attaching the rear fender/bumper attachment sub-assembly at step 20 add a black 1x4 plate (3710) to the underside to give it additional security.
    2. steps 21.2 & 21.3, make sure the pieces are really well seated
    3. step 23, when attaching the real axle sub-assembly place a tan 1x2 brick (3004) just in front of the rear fender/bumper attachment sub-assembly. The rear of the long grey plate in the axle sub-assembly will rest on the edge of this which helps when applying pressure to get the red attachment brick well seated.

You still need to be careful when building the remainder of the back of the vehicle... pick it up so you can press against your fingers on the bottom of the model rather than apply pressure to the wheels. But these steps allowed me to assemble everything without a further issue.

The finished model is worth the effort... it looks fantastic.

It includes SNOT building techniques that I don't come across as a technic builder (Mini Cooper and VW Camper are the only Creator sets I own) so I found those very interesting to use.

I'm really impressed by so detailed review and practical advices. Thank you! I'll try to correct instructions before next update.
  • 3 years, 7 months ago lastzodiac Level 4
That looks fantastic! Well done. Can I ask is it just all parts from the Cooper set itself?
    • 3 years, 7 months ago buildme Level 14 Designed this MOC
I used one extra part - steering wheel, because the original one is a bit oversized even for Cooper - in my opinion.
  • 3 years, 7 months ago James05 Level 7
Very Flimsy in all areas of the car! I agree with MAG dont bother with it!!

Going to try the Ivec Truck!!
  • 3 years, 8 months ago justiz00 Level 5
There are several assemblies (entire rear end/axle, fenders) that are attached with a small number of points. I quit at step 89 because any pressure to attach parts and the rear of the vehicle falls apart and I was tired of removing the rear hood and seats to reattach. The fenders attach with one brick. The design is great in theory but could use reinforcement in several areas.
    • 3 years, 8 months ago buildme Level 14 Designed this MOC
Yeah, this model is really not easy to build because of the connections between mentioned assemblies. This is the design's feature. It's very hard to make a model with non-technic style but place a lot of parts with small angles. Another factor - it's an alternative moc. I was so limited in the amount of parts I had it made me consider buying an extra Cooper set. Anyway, thank you for the review, I am always interested in hearing the opinions of people who build my models!
  • 3 years, 8 months ago buildme Level 14 Designed this MOC
Dear Rebrickers, thank you for your interest in my models.
In original Lego instructions new parts are always clearly visible and are not obscured by other parts, so they are good both on parer and screen.
I designed my instructions to be used in an interactive way only. I often place new parts partially or completely hidden from view but the interactive feature makes it obvious what goes where. Therefore to make it into a printed/PDF version I would have to redo and test it which is quite laborious and time-consuming and will take another three weeks of my free time. Considering that Lego is just one of my hobbies in which I can only engage in my free from work and family time, I can't exactly allow myself to do this right now. I hope you will understand me. Though I like my mocs I think you will find a lot of other models on this website that are worth your attention too.

Love this model! And it's built with parts from only one set, which is great. Could you please provide instructions for non-IOS platforms?
