Lockheed P-38 Lightning on Stand

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American piston-engined, twin boom fighter aircraft in World War II, developed for the United States Army Air Corps. It was mainly used as a long-range escort fighter. It had been  nicknamed the "fork-tailed devil" by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese.
The P-38 was the one most successful planes of that era and also the most admired due to its uniquely nice shapeing.
