McLaren 570S - Bugatti 42083 B-Model

The McLaren 570S lives to thrill. With a body that drawscrowds, two seats, dihedral doors, and enough air intakes for a fighter jet, the McLaren 570S will arouse envy in all who see it. Its carbon-fiber-and-aluminum construction, 562-hp twin-turbo V-8, murderous exhaust note, and preternatural steering ensure that it’s no showpiece, either.

Other cars at this heady end of the sports-car segment are more practical or more refined—or both—but none match the visceral excitement of lashing a 570S down a twisty road.

The Awesome framework was build completely by my brother Dugald, the 8 speed gearbox was designed by Didumos, and I built the bodywork.

Built with just parts from the Bugatti, this B model sports 8 speed gearbox
with stoppers at 1st and 8th, drive neutral reverse, blue gear on the dash
shifts thru gears, butterfly doors, V8, HOG and working steering wheel,
properly tuned suspension without the use of torsion bar for all you purists
out there, opening glovebox, opening engine bay and hood.

I've added extra instructions in the PDF if you would like to add a Lipo
battery, S-brick and PF lights to showcase the car. See the photo attached for
all the parts you would need to add drive. (no steering option, just an XL
motor added to the rear wheels)

The motor does not push the car well, it is simply there to showcase the
gearbox. Enjoy!

I just came across a spare Bugatti set, so will be buying these instructions soon :) If I want to buy replacement hoses for those that need to be cut, which part numbers (and quantities) should I be looking for?
    Thanks!

Hi, when i buy the entire list of parts (i am a complete beginner and i don't have any lego sets right now), does the list assume, i don't have the bugatti chiron set?
in other words, does it order all parts needed for that build? or only those which are not part of the bugatti chiron set?
when i don't own the bugatti, does it order the bugatti set itself plus the extra parts or all parts?
i hope you understand what i mean :(
    thank you in advance!

Brilliant build! Its great that i can use my chiron kit to build something else. Great instructions too. Well worth the buy. Thanks man!

What an excellent B-model! I think I can understand why LEGO does not propose any B-model to sets like 42056 ou 42083 (and I did not enjoy the B-model of 48082), and I hesitate before bying a set without any B-model. Here is a fantastic way to reuse the pieces of 42083. This is the perfect B-model for the Bugatti Chiron set. I can't imagine the number of hours of work spent to design such a beautiful car. Congratulations, the result is wonderful! I will upload pictures soon.
PS: I bought the instructions several months ago, and it was the version with pictures. Is it possible to get the computer images version?

That's extremely cool! Looks at least as good as the base set. Love it!!!!

I don’t event know how to started. Speechless :P
Let’s start. I bought instructions how to turn Bugatti Chiron set into McLaren 570s Spider, it’s MOC-16029 published by guy with nick Loxlego.
The most fun is in assembling those cars so from the beginning i knew that I will buy those instructions. I must say. Bastard is beautiful. In fact I like it better than Chiron set.
Why? Complexity of body. How panels covers themselves, some of them are almost not seeable behind others… but if they are not mounted on place, there would be no effect like that. NICE.
The front lights are neat, Nice shape, although – as rear one – you must destroy your parts to cut bendable hoses to have good length. Sacrifice for good looking McLaren 😊
Doors. They deserve own photo album. Butterfly opened works perfectly and even have stops to stay at opened position. There’s also openable glovebox(because why not), front hood(exactly the same reason) and engine bay for take look on fake V8, working according to gears correctly. Seats are next chapter. Badass looking sport seats done better than in any Lego original car.
Few worlds about Mechanics. Gearbox – 8 gears + reverse done better than in original LEGO set, on smaller place. Also there is stop – for 1st and 8ght gears, that you couldn’t go from 1 to 8 and backwards. There is no PDK mechanism, there is this blue gear on center of dashboard and rotating change gears. In my opinion… I like this more than PDK, don’t ask me why. Steering wheel could be rotated, then wheels of course will be turning, and the second type – Hand Of God steering, located on center of dashboard – Dark Bluish Gray gear next to blue one. Works fine!
For best look of car I should remove Chiron Stickers but I not goanna do that. I thinking about buy some pieces for replace them. Also I would like to build body in one color… But of course I must buy more pieces and most badass topic about this McLaren project is… This is built only from parts found in Chiron set. Cool. Sorry, not cool. EPIC.

13h and 55 min of really nice build. Thank you man!

If I already bought version with pictures instead of clean instructions is there any way you can send me instructions?
Instructions it this format looks better and are more clear and I bought it via "Buy the MOC instructions" button on Rebrickable...
      • 9 months, 4 weeks ago Loxlego (3K) MOC Designer
No worries, computer instructions have been sent :)
  • 11 months ago asiadream (3K)
    no Servo forsteering?
    • 11 months ago Loxlego (3K) MOC Designer
Hi, no this is a true manual model. The battery is there to showcase the gearbox. There is too much friction in the 8 speed gearbox to drive the car well as an RC.
      • 4 months, 1 week ago siwe7 (61)
i am going to build this within the next month. would you consider it difficult to make adaptions (for myself) to make it work for steering?
or would it affect the entire construction?
  • 11 months, 2 weeks ago Ethan0080 (2K)
Thank you for the mod. I love it
I modding the front to make it more contoured

Hi Loxlego. I just posted the final revision for the car. I took a page off from the P1 and make the car have the idential and signature contour shape. Hope everyone likes it

Nice idea and good job. An efficient use of the Bugatti!
  • 1 year, 1 month ago nzmike (2K)
Amazing work!  I have a spare Chiron that I was going to eBay but now I'm tempted to keep it and build this as McClaren is my all time favourite race team and brand of sports cars.  (Being a New Zealander it's only natural!)
My only concern is the doors which don't like right to me so maybe I'll try to work out a way to improve those with a few extra panels.

I am wondering what is the length of the red tubes on the rear side of the car? is it the half length of the brick number 64461 (the red tube of Chiron)?
    • 1 year, 2 months ago Loxlego (3K) MOC Designer
Yes, you will have to cut the ridigidbhose - PN 64461 - for the rear lights.

Someone has found another solution for the rear lights - 2 red 12l flex axles!

        Thank you :))
      • 7 months ago Megamoohah (565)
Love this build, is there a similar solutuon for the front lights? I am going to buy the bugatti kit so i can build your Mclaren but would rather buy some additional parts than destroy them. Thanks man.
